Since the 13th century, Vila-real has celebrated its traditional Santa Catarina Fair around the time of Saint Catalina day. It’s a big event that prepares us for the arrival of Christmas with stalls selling artisan products and delicious food, like turron, the typical festive nougat snack. It’s a great place to find toy figures and miniature pieces for your nativity scene. What’s more, at the fair you’ll witness unique customs like that of the "mocadorà" - a delightful assortment of marzipan fruits traditionally gifted in a handkerchief. It’s also customary to taste a local loaf of bread with grilled sausage. Put this event in the diary and don’t miss it.
