We will be sharing different getaway ideas for August, focusing on places where you can watch the eclipse and enjoy the beauty of the Region of Valencia at the same time. Make a note of them, because this is going to be unforgettable!
Where to see the 2026 solar eclipse in the Region of Valencia
Almost all of Castellón and Valencia will fall within the privileged area for watching the total eclipse of 2026, where the Moon will completely cover the disc of the Sun.
Alicante, which sits on the edge of that strip, will experience the phenomenon as a partial eclipse; however, although the Sun will not disappear completely there, seeing the outline of the Moon projected across it will still be an unforgettable sight.
This means that the whole of the Region of Valencia will be a fantastic destination for an astrotourism getaway. Here, however, we will focus on locations in Castellón and Valencia where you can see the phenomenon in full.
Where is the best place to see the eclipse? A rural getaway to Castellón
-
Culla and its Astromaestrat observatory will be perfect for enjoying the phenomenon.
-
In Tírig, your astrotourism getaway can include a stay in a transparent dome beneath the stars.
-
Benassal is one of the official destinations chosen as a setting for observing the 2026 total eclipse.
-
Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre could be a great choice for a weekend astrotourism getaway with children, where you can see the total eclipse.
All of these are towns in Castellón with very good visibility of the solar eclipse. And, if you prefer somewhere more urban or by the sea, you could choose to spend eclipse day in Peñíscola or Castellón de la Plana. Do not forget to visit its Planetari!

And, of course, in the city of València you will find plenty of plans that fit beautifully with your idea of an astrotourism getaway for the total solar eclipse, from science outreach and observation to beaches, museums, monuments, leisure, a huge aquarium and a park inhabited by species from the African savannah.
