Go birding in El Montgó and connect with nature

Nature and sustainability
What could be better than exploring a beautiful part of the Costa Blanca and observing the local birdlife? El Montgó Natural Park is a birder’s paradise where you can disconnect from the stresses of the everyday.

The Region of Valencia is full of places where you can enjoy mother nature at her wildest, places where you can get away from it all and places where you can forget all about the time. If this sounds like what you’re craving, you’re in the right place.

Birding is a great way to breathe in the tranquillity of the most spectacular landscapes. In the Region of Valencia, you will find hundreds of spots where you can indulge in your favourite pastime. The province of Alicante, in particular, is home to some unique scenery that lends itself to birding tourism

El Montgó Natural Park is a mountain that stands 753m above sea level, creating a physical barrier between the seaside towns of Dénia and Xàbia/Jávea. Here you can go birding while gazing at breathtaking vistas over the Mediterranean.

In El Montgó Natural Park you will spot birds that you haven’t seen anywhere else. The weather paired with the coastal location creates the perfect conditions for bird watching. This is a protected area that is defined by its Mediterranean woodland of Aleppo pines and other endemic species.

Birding is a superb way to get up close to both migratory and indigenous birds and the environment they live in. The cliffs in the area serve as shelter for many species, including birds of prey such as Bonelli's eagles, Peregrine falcons and eagle owls. While you’re in the area, we recommend hiking up to the top of El Montgó: the views are most definitely worth the effort.

Whatever the time of year, going birding in the Costa Blanca is the excuse you’ve been looking for to explore the natural beauty of the Region of Valencia.
