Visit Mercado Municipal in Alboraya and start your discovery of the quality produce grown in the surrounding huerta.

A modern structure decorated with traditional Valencian ceramics, Mercado Municipal in Alboraya is a bustling indoor market where you can find the freshest produce grown in the huerta, or agricultural land, that is on its doorstep.

The fruit and vegetable stalls here sell only the very highest quality produce and the remainder of the stalls stock everything else you could possibly want, from salted fish and charcuterie to seafood, meat and much more.

We recommend visiting the market as part of your exploration of the historic streets of Alboraya. Make sure you take time to marvel at the beautiful Modernist and Art Deco inspired houses from the 19th and 20th centuries and poke your head into Asunción de Nuestra Señora parish church which dates back to the Middle Ages. And then – before you head to the huerta – stop off at the market to get everything you need for a picnic. Equipped with a tasty lunch, walk or cycle the pretty country lanes flanked by a network of irrigation channels used to water the land.

A good place to end your walk is at La Patacona, a beach with over 1km of soft sand and a busy seafront promenade. The perfect place to sit down and devour the treats you bought from the market.

Alboraya is well connected to València city by both bus and the cycle path that extends along the old Vía Churra. There's no excuse not to visit this excellent market during your next getaway.
