What to do in Alfara de la Baronía
A stroll through the historic centre, admiring the white-washed housefronts is a great introduction to the pretty village of Alfara de la Baronía. As you wander, you’ll come across San Agustín Obispo Parish Church. This 18th-century landmark overlooks a sunny square, which is home to other historic buildings, including the 15th-century Main House and several traditional buildings, typical of Valencian farming villages.
Let’s continue our sightseeing tour of Alfara de la Baronía by heading to the river Palancia to uncover the village's colourful hydraulic legacy. Start with a visit to the charming public wash house and the 18th-century water storage cistern. Then, take a stroll towards the old Nesa Paper Factory Chimney, a slim octagonal structure that surveys the peaceful surroundings from high above.
Follow the path round until you reach the old aqueduct built in the 18th century and known as Los Arcos, The Arches. It was built atop the remains of a Roman aqueduct and forms part of the walking trail El Agua Route.
There’s still plenty to do in Alfara de la Baronía, but we suggest rounding off the trip with a visit to Nuestra Señora de los Afligidos for a look at the spectacular sweeping views of the county. Are you up for a trip to the scenic Valencian countryside? We’re sure it won’t be the last Valencian inland destination you explore.
