The stretch that runs through the Region of Valencia goes from Barracas towards Sagunto, letting you soak up the scenery of Torás, Caudiel, Benafer, Viver, Jérica, Navajas, Altura, Segorbe, Soneja, Sot de Ferrer, Algar de Palancia, Alfara de la Baronia, Algimia de Alfara, Torres Torres and Albalat dels Tarongers.
The Vía Verde de Ojos Negros offers you all manner of settings, and some stretches are even wheelchair accessible. You cycle through tunnels, glide past gorgeous natural landscapes and even stop off at spectacular miradors, or lookouts. Plus, it’s a great way to discover the cuisine and cultural heritage of the villages you pass through. If we had to pick a highlight, we’d go for the scenery of the Sierra de Espadan and the Sierra Calderona.
An increasingly popular option among cyclists is to connect the Vía Verde de Ojos Negros with the Vía Verde Xurra, which runs to the city of València across stunning agricultural countryside. Whether you choose to do this or not, the Ojos Negros Greenway is a fantastic option just on its own. So pack your panniers, start plotting your route to the starting point and get pedalling!
