Come and nose around Carrícola parish church.

Sitting in the midst of La Vall d'Albaida county, in the province of Valencia, is Carrícola, a small municipality with plenty of charm. The village has a number of historic and natural heritage sites, including San Miguel Arcángel parish church, which tells part of Carrícola's history.

Once an old mosque, the church became a Christian place of worship and was dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel in the year 1572. The present-day plan comprises a central nave with a barrel vault, split into four sections with side chapels located between the buttresses.

The parish church has a tall choir and on the epistle side, a bell tower comprising two sections. A door provides access to the church from the main façade. As you step inside, make your way to the high altar, Neoclassical in style, which is crowned by the image of San Miguel Arcángel, the patron saint of the village. Take your time to marvel at this beautiful 18th century Baroque sculpture made of wood painted in different colours.

Carrícola is a beautiful part of La Vall d'Albaida where you can enjoy nature, heritage and art. Come and visit this lovely municipality and don’t forget to pop your head into the parish church. Once you’ve been once, it won’t be long before you’re back again.
