Loriguilla isn’t just a weekend getaway: it’s a journey through time, with its very own ghost town! Ready to unlock its secrets?

Loriguilla, in the province of Valencia, is a perfect example of living history, an ancient town which has evolved through the ages and left several treasures for us to enjoy. You’ll find both an old quarter in the region of Los Serranos, and a “new” one in El Camp de Túria… although even the new town goes way back! In fact it was created in the mid-20th century, when the original settlement was moved due to the construction of a reservoir.

What to see in Loriguilla

A visit to Loriguilla’s “new” settlement is a must. As you wander the peaceful, sun-dappled streets, be sure to stop in the San Juan Bautista Parish Church. And just outside town, you’ll find the old Masía del Conde, a 19th-century complex where a huge bustling farm once stood.

Another highlight is La Soledad y San Juan Bautista Church, a charming little chapel that offers beautiful views. As a lovely bonus, it’s very close to the Pla de Nadal archaeological site in the neighboring town of Riba-roja de Túria.

And if you really want to roam into the past, there’s the original settlement of Loriguilla, left behind to make way for the reservoir. Today, this abandoned town has been transformed into a rural tourism hub, where the ancient streets and buildings still stand as a timeless testament to its once-bustling way of life.

This isn’t just a historic treasure-trove; it’s also the perfect starting point for loads of walks and routes for you to hike through the Valencian mountains. Whether you love your nature, your history, or simply the thrill of a new discovery, Loriguilla is waiting for you to fall in love.
