Are you wondering what to do in Náquera? Make sure you visit Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Parish Church.

Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Parish Church, sits in the heart of Náquera’s Plaza de la Iglesia. If you are spending some time wandering the streets of this part of the province of Valencia, make sure you stop off at this beautiful church.

The church dates back to the 18th century. The high altar is inscribed with the date 1757, which is when construction work was completed. Prior to this, Náquera had had another place of worship, dating back to the 16th century at least, which was destroyed years afterwards. From here was born the need to build the church that you can see today.

The church has stone-built walls and is not very large: it is just 24m long and 13.5m wide and has a 6m central nave. As soon as you step inside, you will see the nave with side chapels nestled between the buttresses. There are also two rooms, namely the Communion chapel and the Sacristy.

The decoration of the interior evokes the style of the late Baroque and early Neoclassical. Due to the impact of the Spanish Civil War, the church suffered a number of modifications.

Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Parish Church in Náquera is home to a number of works of art, paintings and sculptures. We would recommend taking time to look at the two paintings at the altar, 'La Flagelación de Cristo' and 'El sucar d'Emaús', which are Tenebrist works that have the theatricality of Baroque. As you can see, this church offers artistry, history and

heritage. Make sure you don’t miss it.
