In August, the town comes alive to the stirring rhythm of the Moorish marches in this spectacular celebration.

The Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de Paterna, the Moors and Christians Festival of Paterna, in Valencia, forms part of the town’s main annual celebrations and fills the streets with gunpowder, tradition and pageantry every second half of August under the motto “Foc, festa i fe” (Fire, festivity and faith). Don’t miss it!

What can you expect at the Moors and Christians Festival in Paterna?

These celebrations combine religious tradition with the spectacle of the Moors and Christians parades, featuring 24 comparsas (troupes). Culture also takes centre stage, with a varied programme of concerts and exhibitions rounding off two weeks of non-stop activity. The highlight comes on the last Sunday of August with the Cordà, a truly unique event in which thousands of rockets light up the night sky.

The programme of the Moors and Christians Festival in Paterna includes parades, theatrical performances, sporting competitions and a fantastic atmosphere throughout. Come and see it for yourself!
