The Llavador, or Municipal Washhouse, in Riba-roja de Túria, popularly known as the Llavaor Vell, is the oldest washhouse in the town and the only one that survives today.

Things to see at the Municipal Washhouse in Riba-roja de Túria

Tucked behind the castle beside the Barranco de los Moros, the washhouse once drew its water directly from the main irrigation channel. It was restored in 2010, while preserving its original architecture and features, and today provides a fascinating insight into an important part of local life.

The washhouse also forms part of the Urban Water Route, so you can easily continue your visit to other landmarks connected with the town’s water heritage, including the Puente Viejo and the Cistern. A visit here reveals just how closely life in Riba-roja de Túria has long been linked to the waters of the River Túria.
