Visit a fantastic church that stands proud in the centre of Sagunto while sightseeing in this historic town, one breathtaking landmark at a time.

Situated in Sagunto, La Iglesia Parroquial de la Natividad de Nuestra Señora, La Natividad de Nuestra Señora Parish Church, also known as Santa María Church, is steeped in history, much like the Roman town it calls home, which is teeming with eye-opening landmarks. Built on top of an ancient mosque, the church traces its origins back to 1334, although the church as we know it today came into being later and was completed in the 18th century.

The interior of the church is composed of three naves with buttresses that form the lateral chapels. The church’s exterior is characterised by its narrow, tall windows and majestic façade. La Natividad de Nuestra Señora Parish Church also features a bell tower which was rebuilt at the start of the 20th century, replacing an 18th tower that was demolished a century later. In addition to this place of worship, we recommend visiting La Santísima Sangre Chapel and, of course, the castle and Roman theatre.
