What to see in Sot de Chera
We recommend starting your explorations by wandering around the centre, dedicating some time to see San Sebastián Mártir Parish Church. This 17th-century place of worship has a rustic façade and houses a wonderful altarpiece by the painter Juan de Juanes.
The heart of Sot de Chera is the Castle, which sits atop a rock and affords fantastic views. A highlight is the square tower, around which you’ll find the ruins of buildings that are thought to have been part of the castle or a manor house. Sot de Chera is still home to this special monument from times past! And then there are the olive mills, the old dungeons, the public washhouse, and not to mention the Count’s Olive Mill Museum Collection.
Venture outside the centre and you’ll find San Roque Chapel, which makes a great first walk in Sot de Chera. After, we’d recommend immersing yourself in Chera - Sot de Chera Natural Park, a natural and geological park with incredible trails.
Inside the park, you’ll find a number of routes that will lead you to wonderful spots. Make sure you set aside some time to see the famous anticlines. An anticline is a spectacular geological fold with an arch-like shape.
