Enjoy incredible vistas over Sot de Chera from the Castle.

Sot de Chera Castle sits on the top of a hill overlooking the waters of the river Sot. This great position affords vistas over the village, the river and La Alegría Valley. Sot de Chera is a destination that has plenty to explore, and if you take a look around the historic centre and start climbing up through the Arabic houses, you will soon reach a Castle that is well worth a visit.

This is a rock castle whose structure is made of rammed earth and masonry. Only some sections of the curtain walls and the remains of the quadrangular tower are still standing. Torre del Castillo de Sot de Chera, the tower of Sot de Chera Castle, has holes which were once windows and the remains of the crenelations. The part enveloping the tower, which seems to be the keep, was part of the old defence system.

Listed a Site of Cultural Interest, the tower and the remains of the curtain wall have been restored to conserve the heritage site that locals and visitors can come and take a look around. It has been discovered that some houses in the village have underground tunnels that are the same age as the Castle.

Discover the nature and heritage of Sot de Chera, a destination that has a great deal to offer tourists, and start planning your visit to the Castle and the landscapes that you can see from the top of the hill.
