Mercado Tradicional de San Blas, San Blas Traditional Market, is held in the trendiest neighbourhood in València, Ruzafa, and takes place around the 3rd February, commemorating saint Blaise. The outdoor market fills the street with activity and is the perfect way to discover real Valencian delicacies and crafts.

San Blas Traditional Market is organised by one of València’s associations, Falla Dr.Serrano - Carlos Cervera, who sets up festive lights along the streets to make the event more magical. What’s more, folk musicians craft the soundtrack for the market by playing tabalet and dolçaina, a typical pairing of drums and oboe-like instruments. And you’ll be spoilt for choice when picking between the many edible products and handcrafted items on offer.

On top of the traditional market, the Ruzafa neighbourhood organises other activities in celebration of San Blas. such as folk dancing performances. In the nearby San Valero Church, locals participate in the ceremonial blessing of the saint, who is known for healing the sick, and this ritual is believed to help ward off sore throats.
