Visit the San Cosme and San Damián Parish Church in Llíber and delve into its fascinating history.

The current Iglesia Parroquial de San Cosme y San Damián, the San Cosme and San Damián Parish Church in Llíber, Alicante, stands on the remains of an old Islamic mosque, converted into a Christian temple around 1535, after the forced conversion of the Mudejar population. Since then, the church has undergone multiple extensions, renovations and played a key role in Llíber's spiritual life.

For centuries, this church was an annex of the parish of Xaló, until in 1903 Llíber became an independent parish. The building's evolution reflects the town's demographic growth: from 27 houses in the mid-17th century to more than 800 people registered in 1900.

The current building features a characteristic octagonal bell tower and three naves with side chapels between buttresses and exterior flying buttresses. It is truly a sight worth seeing!

This church is not only a place of worship, but also a symbol of Llíber's history, faith and identity. Today, it continues to be served by the parish priest of Xaló, preserving the historical link between the two towns.
