La Iglesia Parroquial de la Asunción de María, La Asunción de María Parish Church, in Traiguera, remains unfinished after so many centuries, giving it a special rustic charm. Originally a Gothic place of worship, the current church standing was built during the Renaissance.

The parish church contains a large nave and two trancepts with ornate decoration and a beautiful Renaissance-style side door. Built between the 16th and 17th century, this church is home to stunning gold and silverwork, wooden sculptures, altarpieces and decorated Gothic columns. You’ll also find ancient archeological remains from the Iberian and Roman periods.

The belltower at La Asunción de María Parish Church dates back to 1393, forming part of the original Gothic building. The top of the octagonal tower was rebuilt in 2007 after it was struck by lightning. While in Traiguera, we recommend taking a peek inside La Virgen de la Fuente de la Salud Real Sanctuary during a hiking trail. And don’t forget to stroll around the historic centre.
