Be at one with nature at the mouth of the river Millars, a protected landscape whose beauty will take you aback.

Extending for 14km, the mouth of the river Millars is a protected landscape that passes through the municipalities of Vila-real, Almassora and Burriana. The Millars is one of the longest rivers in the province of Castellón and is bursting at the seams with biodiversity.

Back in 2011, the mouth of the river Millars was the first area in the Region of Valencia to be declared a protected landscape. It is also home to what is known as a “ZEPA” area, which is a special protected area for birds, as well as a Lugar de Interés Comunitario, an area of regional interest. The final stretch of the river is a listed wetland.

There are all sorts of interesting sights to see in the area, such as Santa Quiteria chapel, the Botánico Calduch trail and Les Goles, which is an ideal place to do a spot of birdwatching and see the many species that live in the area.

Certain parts of the river Millars invite you to take a refreshing dip and spend lazy hours on the banks with all the family. This is a beauty spot enveloped in the embrace of nature where you can enjoy some great outdoor pursuits. From birdwatching and hiking to simply soaking up the environment, the area will soon win your heart. Come and explore it for yourself.
