Water routes in Alicante: day 1

Our first day of hikes with water in Alicante will take us to the beautiful scenery of Fonts de l’Algar. Listed a Protected Water Area, this waterscape has waterfalls, springs and crystal clear pools to swim in.

The limestone setting will lull you into a state of relaxation while the hiking trails will take you on an exploration of dreamy landscapes with views over the coast and the Alicante mountains. The perfect destination for all the family. There’s even a picnic area

Hikes with water in Alicante: day 2

Day two will lead you to the foothills of Sierra de Mariola from Agres where you can enjoy Font del Baladre, next to the River Agres and a small dam. Poplars, holm oaks, pines and a large variety of plants and wildlife will greet you on a 2 km walk along the river banks.

To round off the day, you can head to the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park Visitor Centre, which is just half an hour drive away. From here you can walk the blue route, a pretty and easy trail. Take a look at this guide to help you identify all the types of butterflies you might be lucky enough to see here.

Waterscapes in Alicante: day 3

On your third day of enjoying hiking trails with water in Alicante you will visit Banyeres de Mariola, where you can walk the route lining the River Vinalopó, which is populated with a number of old mills. If you love photography, you’re going to find plenty to inspire you.

And to complete your third day of outdoor activities in Alicante, we recommend visiting an old fortress, Banyeres de Mariola Castle
