What to see on Tabarca Island: day 1
Do you know how to get to Tabarca Island? The journey will clearly be over the seas and the most popular choice is to set sail from Santa Pola, Alicante or Benidorm. The boat trip is part of the adventure! The Mediterranean Sea will be a constant during your two-day exploration of Tabarca Island.
When you touch dry land, you’ll be taken aback by the lovely centre – this is the only inhabited island in the Region of Valencia! The historic-artistic centre dates back to the 18th century when the town walls and three gates were built and the simple yet pretty urban layout was developed.
Make sure you include a walk to San José Tower, as well as to the lighthouse, the small cemetery and the old tuna fishery. And, of course, take an early evening dip in the waters at Tabarca Beach if the weather allows! To conclude this busy day, there’s nothing like refuelling with a dish of caldero tabarquino, which is bursting with the flavours of the sea.
Things to do on Tabarca Island: day 2
On your second day in Tabarca Island, you can focus on the natural marine reserve. Spectacular crystal-clear waters that are teeming with sea life make snorkelling off the island an activity that will get you muttering “wow” time and time again. If you’ve got an underwater camera, don’t forget to bring it with you.
Before heading back to the mainland, we recommend completing your list of things to see on Tabarca Island with a visit to the Tabarca Nova Museum. Here you can discover all the secrets of this magical island, a place that you’ll want to come back to time and time again.
