La Verge del Fonament festivities (Our Lady of the Foundation) in Benissanó, València, are held every year on 8 September, with the whole town coming together to honour its patron saint. One of the highlights is the procession, accompanied by traditional dances, which brings the streets to life.

Organised by the Clavarios of Our Lady of the Foundation, the celebrations begin at dawn with the traditional despertà and the rosary of the dawn. Throughout the day, events include the gathering of the Clavarios, the Queen and her Court of Honour, the solemn mass and the much-anticipated mascletà.

In the afternoon, the main procession makes its way through Benissanó. It's a deeply rooted tradition not to be missed. Big-headed figures (cabezudos) and colourful traditional dress come together in lively street dances that are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

The day draws to a close with a fireworks display, followed by evening street parties and live music. It’s a brilliant opportunity to experience local traditions and see Benissanó at its most vibrant—well worth a visit.
