Carcaixent’s Fallas presentation ceremonies are known for their theatrical performances, elaborate stage sets and traditional dances. They are held each year in the historic Magatzem de Ribera.

The Presentaciones Falleras de Carcaixent, Carcaixent Fallas Ceremonies, in Valencia, are one of the more emotive theatrical traditions on the Valencian festive calendar, with documented origins dating back to the mid-20th century. The season runs from November to February.

What are the Carcaixent Fallas Ceremonies?

There is an official side to proceedings, with the proclamation of the Falleras Mayores and the presentation of the local commissions, but Carcaixent takes things much further into the world of performance. During presentation season, the falleros themselves write and perform sketches, rehearse ambitious choreography and build elaborate stage sets. The high point comes with the final tableau, which draws on scenes of local life and landscapes from around the town.

Every performance takes place in the Magatzem de Ribera, a landmark Modernist building from 1905 known as the “Cathedral of the Orange”. Each commission has a full week to install its scenery and fine-tune rehearsals, turning these ceremonies into a showcase of both artistic tradition and fresh ideas.
