The festival looks back to the legend surrounding the origins of the devotion in 1250, when the image is said to have been found in the old Aguas Vivas area. What sets the event apart is the open-air recreation of traditional farming work, with two oxen ploughing the land in a scene that brings the old story to life. The programme also draws on ethnological re-enactments, festive heritage and other traditional activities, giving you a glimpse of the customs and stories that have shaped Carcaixent over the centuries.
