Add this fascinating museum to your list of things to visit in Oliva and discover the town’s great history.

Museo Arqueológico (archaeology museum) in Oliva is housed in a beautiful 15th century townhouse, which is itself worth a visit. Inside, the museum offers a number of exhibitions that will get you interested in the history of Oliva and La Safor county. You will be whisked many centuries back in time to prehistory, taking a look at everyday tools and objects. You will then move through periods and civilisations, discovering what life was like in the Iberian, Roman, Medieval and Islamic periods in the town.

Oliva’s archaeology museum puts a special emphasis on the 16th century. The displays will immerse you in life at the time and take you on an exploration of Palacio Condal de Oliva, the count’s residence, through a number of fascinating items.

Once you’ve finished your visit, Oliva offers plenty more things to see and do. Whatever the time of year, you can enjoy the beaches – whether it be taking a walk or a swim – soaking up views of the beautiful dunes. You could also explore Marjal de Pego-Oliva, a wetland boasting spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife. And then, of course, you simply have to explore the old Moorish part of the town and breathe in views from Tosalet del Doix.
