Listed a Site of Local Relevance, the church dates back to the 18th century, when the present-day church was built. Prior to this, Serra constructed its first church in the 16th century, followed by a second in the 17th century, to cater for the rapid expansion of the population. For this reason, the decision was made to build the present-day church.

The church you can see today was designed by the master architect Francisco Pechuan. The locals helped build the church. In the year 1800, the construction work was completed and ever since Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles church has been the focal point of religious worship in Serra.
