Multimedia Gallery

Visit the València Fine Arts Museum and you will be amazed not only by the works it contains, but also by the building that houses them.

The València Fine Arts Museum is located on the banks of the old Turia riverbed and is the second largest art gallery in Spain. It houses paintings, drawings, engravings, archaeological pieces, photographs and decorative arts of all kinds. If you are visiting València and want to enjoy art and heritage, this museum is the perfect place to visit.

The building that houses the Museum of Fine Arts is, in itself, another work of art! It is the Colegio Seminario de San Pío V, which the Valencian architect Juan Bautista Pérez Castiel was commissioned to build in 1683. It has a baroque style, following the style of works that already existed in the city. If we look at the façade that faces the river, we can see that it is lined with large windows on two levels and square towers at the ends. The whole is crowned with a cornice of paired corbels.

The ground plan is almost square and is sits around a triple-arched cloister, with five arches per side on each floor. On the west side of the building, the church linked to the college was built later in the 18th century. This church has a central octagonal plan with a ring of chapels. The church was left in ruins and has now been rebuilt; it has recovered its volume, although changes were made to the elevation.

Visit the San Pío V Fine Arts Museum and enjoy both its works and a building that is a true monument. We assure you that it is well worth it.
