Be taken aback by the wonders nature can create over thousands of years in the caves in Busot.

Located in the province of Alicante, Busot will take you all the way back to the Jurassic period. Cuevas del Canelobre, a series of spectacular karstic caves, promise a magical underground world that is filled with wonders created over thousands of years. The caves are the most popular sight in the village.

Cuevas del Canelobre are accessed through a 45m long tunnel which then gives way to an impressive 80,000m2 of underground rooms. Over time, water and rock have worked together to create impressive formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, columns and flowstones.

The caves are formed of limestone and were created in the Upper Jurassic period. This makes the caves a mind-boggling 145 million years old.

As you venture into the caves, you will discover all the treasures they hold. Among their many impressive features, you will discover one of the highest vaults in Spain that reaches up to 70m in parts. Evocative of a cathedral, this space has elements that could be the decoration of the Sagrada Familia. You will also see the Canelobre, from which the caves get their name, a stalagmite in the centre of the room which is over 100,000 years old.

Cuevas del Canelobre will reveal their history and curiosities the deeper you go underground. You can explore this incredible world accompanied by expert guides or alternatively with a caving experience. Thanks to the amazing acoustics, the caves are also the perfect stage for music performances.
