Come and be part of the merrymaking that fills Busot with music and tradition.

Las Festes de Moros i Cristians en honor a Sant Josep i Sant Vicent Ferrer, the Moors and Christians Festival in Busot, Alicante, is the town's most iconic celebration, cherished for its history, tradition and deep roots in local life.

It takes place one week after Easter. During these days, the streets fill with music, gunpowder and colourful parades, all recreating the legendary clashes between the Moors and Christians. Although the festival in its current form dates back to 1963, traces of similar revelry stretch as far back as the late 19th century.

In the lead up to the main spectacle, there are several special events. One of the most impressive is the presentation of the Captains in the amazing setting of the Canelobre Caves. There is also a concert of traditional music, and the popular “soparets”, when each group has dinner together and enjoys a friendly, family-like atmosphere.

Other highlights include the “Entraeta” on Holy Saturday, the embassies (dramatic performances between Moors and Christians), the “guerrilla” (a playful gunpowder battle) and the flower offering to Saint Joseph, who is one of the town's patron saints together with Saint Vincent Ferrer. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in Busot's rich culture.
