Experience a celebration that reflects the traditions and spirit of Calp.

This celebration in Spain stands out for its eclectic nature and the way it brings together people from many different backgrounds. One of the defining features of Easter in Calp is the participation of residents of many nationalities, which reflects the town’s multicultural identity and draws thousands of visitors each year from around the world. The celebrations are marked by their energy and visual impact, with processions winding through the streets of the old town. Today, Easter in Calp is organised around five brotherhoods, including Jesús Nazareno, Cristo de los Gitanos and Virgen de la Salud, which take to the streets daily from Palm Sunday onwards. Good Friday is the most important moment of Easter in Calp, with the procession of the Santo Entierro, which concludes in Plaza de la Villa as all the images come together. On Easter Sunday, the celebrations draw to a close with the moving encounter between the Risen Christ and the Virgin in Plaza San Salvador. During this act, members of the Festival Committee wear traditional Calp dress, reinforcing the strong popular roots of the celebration.

Where is Calp and what can you do there?

Calp lies in the heart of the Costa Blanca, in the province of Alicante, and offers far more than its well-known beaches. During Easter, the old town provides an ideal setting for following the processions, allowing you to discover historic corners while experiencing local tradition at street level. No visit is complete without exploring the Peñón de Ifach, a symbol of the Region of Valencia and a striking natural landmark. We also recommend taking time to wander through the old town and making the most of your stay by sampling the area’s seafood cuisine in the many restaurants along the harbour.
