In Matet, discover the festivals that bring this charming village to life and transform its ancient streets.

The festivals in honour of San Antonio Abad in Matet, in the province of Castellón, bring tourists and local residents together in a celebration of community life.

During the celebrations, the society of hunters prepares the typical congrets, small pieces of bread which, after being blessed, are shared around as a symbol of unity and good luck.

The heart of the festival beats in the Plaza de la Iglesia (church square), where a great bonfire illuminates the festive atmosphere. The Saturday night resolves around the Cena de Hermandad (fraternity dinner), where the charcuterie becomes a character in itself.

The celebrations demand not only the protection of wildlife (as is the case with many local villages) but also the protection of the fields and rivers, reminding us of their role in this beautiful corner of the Sierra de Espadán. Ready to come and discover it yourself?
