The cave art in the Region of Valencia constitutes an incredible legacy left by our most distant ancestors. Discover their world at Museo de la Valltorta.

During your time in Tírig, make sure you visit Museo de la Valltorta, a museum dedicated to cave art in the Region of Valencia, particularly that found in Parc Cultural de Valltorta – Gasulla, a spectacular gorge landscape that has a long story to tell.

In 1998, UNESCO named the cave art in the Region of Valencia World Heritage, giving you some idea of the importance of the sites you can explore in the museum.

Museo de la Valltorta is situated just 500m from Barranc de la Valltorta. Here you can take guided tours to see everything you’ve learnt about in the exhibitions in real life. An extraordinary experience.

As Museo de la Valltorta’s displays focus on the art discovered in Cova dels Cavalls, we recommend visiting this cave (easy route). However, there is much more to see. You can also visit Cova del Mas d'en Josep (intermediate route) and Cova dels Ribassals, also known as Cova del Civil (easy route). Beyond the Tírig area, you can also visit Coves de la Saltadora (difficult route) in the municipality of Coves de Vinromà, Centelles rock shelter in Albocàsser (intermediate route) and Cova Remígia in Ares del Maestrat (intermediate route).

Museo de la Valltorta will take you on a journey thousands of years back in time to discover the lives of our most distant ancestors. Don’t miss it.
