Cultural tourism in the Region of Valencia has been formed by centuries of history. Across the destination, you’ll have the opportunity to see ancient paintings depicting the collection of honey dating to between 9000 and 1400 BC and a contemporary art museum housed in a Gothic palace in Vilafamés. Use our searcher to discover museums, cultural tours, festivals and much, much more.
There is a wealth of cultural tourism on offer in the Region of Valencia, in part because we have been the home of great artists who have left behind enduring literary, architectural, sculptural and artistic legacies.
Our land has been inhabited by ancient civilisations that built countless towers, walls and castles. We’ve kept alive oral traditions that are part of our DNA and every week a session of the Water Tribunal is still held in València.
The footprints of dinosaurs, dry stone constructions protected by UNESCO as well as Immaterial Heritage like Las Fallas, La Mare de Déu de la Salut Festival in Algemesí and Misteri d’Elx: we are a destination that breathes culture.
Use our searcher to find cultural activities in the provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante and start planning getaways to soak up the culture. Experience festivals with long traditions, wander around fascinating archaeological museums, enjoy listening to our bands and feel our palpable cultural legacy and the spark that inspires avant-garde artists.
We move to the Middle Ages to learn about the result of a mixture of cultures, religions, and ethnicities in one of the most enigmatic and historic cities in the Mediterranean. After the Christian reconquest, Jews and Arabs enjoyed forgiveness and obtained royal permission to remain in the city. The foundations of coexistence for prosperity were laid, a coexistence marked by three faiths in which cultural achievements were experienced thanks to the contribution of each civilization, but also conflicts, misery, and banishment. A fascinating experience that brings you closer to know about the identity and diversity of a people and that keeps you captive until the end of the tour.
Considered one of the greatest works of Valencian baroque, it was built throughout the 17th century. Its façade-altarpiece, the large half-orange dome, the main altarpiece, the baroque interior decoration and the bell tower with its calendar clock stand out. In addition, the Church keeps an important pictorial and artistic collection inside, with works by painters such as Jerónimo Jacinto Espinosa or Pedro Orrente.
The Museum, along with its exhibition work, is a center for the dissemination of history, culture, art and literature. To carry out this cultural purpose, the Museum is managed by the Libertas 7 Foundation, a non-profit foundation officially recognized as a public utility that also promotes many other cultural and social activities with the aim of promoting toy collecting, especially the historical miniature figure, the knowledge of history and the preservation of ethnographic peculiarities.
We are going to enjoy a guided tour of the centre of Valencia.
The Carmen neighbourhood is known for its historic streets, small restaurants with a Mediterranean flavour and street art. We are going to learn about the importance of this art with explanations about murals, artists, their techniques and styles, as well as internal debates between graffiti and urban art. All the explanations with personalised attention so that everyone can enjoy them.
Afterwards, we will go to a very special space. A work space for an urban artist in the Benimaclet area. There we are going to get down to work. We are going to enjoy a practical, unique and memorable activity. For 1 hour we are going to enjoy a talk about his work, both graphic and on walls. To finish we can practice signatures and strokes with the artist, both with markers and with spray cans on a board.
The Canelobre caves are at an altitude of 700m and are in an ideal location to enjoy some of the best panoramic mountain and sea views. On our visit we will explore the inside of the cave, with one of the highest caverns in all Spain. We will observe the various natural forms and shapes that the rocks have taken, and our guide will inform us of many interesting facts while we are inside the cave. Our guided visit inside the cave is approximately 45 minutes. After visiting the cave we will then go to the charming town of Busot for a visit of the town and sit down in one of the local cafes for a drink before departing for Alicante.
