La Mare de Déu de la Salut Festival, on UNESCO’S Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list since 2011, is back in Algemesí. This festivity is an incredible example of the hard work put in to preserve ancient traditions, keeping them alive and kicking. Colourful and dynamic, this celebration includes live music, dancing and performances in four of Algemesí’s oldest neighbourhoods: Valencia, La Muntanya, Santa Bárbara and La Capella. Dance group La Muixeranga with its famous human towers, as well as Els Bastonets, La Carxofa, Els Arquets, Els Pastoretes, El Bolero and Els Tornejats are just some of the eccentric characters you’ll see perform to the sound of the tabalet and dolçaina, traditional folk instruments that form the heartbeat of the festivities.
