Alicante is a province that boasts an incredible diversity of scenery and historic sites. The picture-perfect villages dotted around the province are also well worth a visit. Camera packed, are you ready to frame your Alicante adventures through the lens?

Alicante? You can’t imagine the number of scenic sites - rural and urban - that you’ll want to capture on camera. Come with us to visit the Costa Blanca and its islands, or join us on a tour around inland Alicante up into the majestic mountains and fairy-tale castles. Your photo album will be a journey in and of itself!

Alicante in photos: inland beauty

Let’s start our photography expedition in Alicante by visiting Alcoy, a town defined by its magnificent Art Nouveau buildings alongside stunning cliff faces. Banyeres de Mariola, the highest town in the municipality, has plenty of places waiting to be caught on camera. And you can’t miss visiting El Castell de Guadalest, hands down one of the prettiest villages in Spain. Nestled in the rock face on top of which stands an old castle with views over the reservoir; around every corner, you’ll find a site more beautiful than the next.

While exploring the inland towns and villages of Alicante, we‘ve got to include some of the castles in the area, such as that of Sax, Villena, Biar and Novelda. And we can’t forget about Orihuela, an incredible town that serves as the perfect canvas for capturing the essence of Alicante on film, with unforgettable sites at every step.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Wander down the winding streets of small towns such as Famorca, or delve into traditional Valencian culture and visit the old riuraus buildings in La Marina Alta. It’s impossible to list every site to visit!

Alicante in photos: naturescapes

Your photo tour must include at least one of the nine natural parks in the province of Alicante. Wetlands, mountains and forests are already in position for the lens, ready to blow you away with their beauty. If you love bird photography, you should visit Natural Parks El Marjal de Pego-Oliva, Salinas de Santa Pola, El Hondo or Las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja.

A photo holiday around Alicante also has to include the stunning valleys of Pop and La Vall de Gallinera where cherry blossom paints the landscape in pale pink. La Vall de Laguar and La Vall d’Ebo are waiting to be explored through the lens, where you can capture incredible natural sites as you walk along the famous trail “La Catedral del Senderismo” in  Barranc de l’Infern. This will test your fitness as well as your photography skills!

In La Sierra Mariola Natural Park, you’ll find the magical Arquejada Cave in Agres, an ancient ice house surrounded by stunning nature that serves as a great photo opportunity. Let’s continue our photo tour around Alicante and visit Palmeral de Orihuela, the striking water features of Salt de Benilloba and Fonts de l’Algar in Callosa d’en Sarrià, Sierra de Bernia. That’s just a taste of what you can see; there’s so much more.

Alicante in photos: the Costa Blanca

At last, your picture-taking journey leads you to the Mediterranean Sea, our first coastal stop being Elche and its UNESCO palm forest heritage site and the jaw-dropping Clot de Galvany.

Villajoyosa’s colourful coastline is ideal to add to your photo collection of the province of Alicante, which should also include the Benidorm skyline and its incredible beaches, Serra Gelada Natural Park posing coyly in the background.

Dénia’s historic centre, the white and blue streets in Altea and the dreamy coves of Jávea all boasts breathtaking views. Enchanting places such as the impressive silhouettes of El Montgó and Penyal d’Ifach in Calpe should also be on the list, in addition to the fantastic archeological site right on the shoreline. And save some energy for a visit to the Island of Tabarca!

And finally, with so much still to fill your visual diary, we end the trip in Alicante city for a photo session in the traditional Santa Cruz neighbourhood, then a climb up to Santa Bárbara Castle and a wander down to the lively beaches. Document your wanderlust by cherishing the essence of Alicante in your photos and see this amazing province unfold in front of the lens.
