Coming in at 167.5km long, Vía Verde de Ojos Negros is currently the longest Vía Verde, literally meaning ‘Greenway’, in Spain. 75.5km of the trail runs through the provinces of Castellón and Valencia.

The Greenway makes its way through the scenery of the valley of the river Palancia. Spanning from the high plateau of Barracas to the foothills of Sierra de Javalambre, the trail runs along the former mining railway of Sierra Menera. Gradually, Vía Verde de Ojos Negros descends from Teruel to the Valencian agricultural land flanking the shore of the Mediterranean. The difficulty of the trail depends on which direction you go. If you choose to start in the Region of Valencia, there is an ascent of 1,400m.

The Greenway is suitable for walkers, bikes and wheelchairs (except for the occasional ramp off the original trail).
