Published 21/09/2026
Where can you enjoy the Mediterranean and mild autumn weather in Castellón, Valencia or Alicante? With gentler temperatures and fewer crowds, you can take your pick from city beaches lined with places to eat and things to do, or more secluded coves that pair nicely with a walk and a swim at the end. Here are a few ideas for a beach trip once summer is over.
The coastline in the Region of Valencia takes on a different rhythm in autumn. The weather is still mild enough for a swim, while the beaches themselves tend to be much quieter, which makes this a great time to spend a few days disconnecting by the sea. You can also fold in cultural, food or sporty plans along the way. Fancy a few suggestions?
Why visit the Region of Valencia’s Mediterranean beaches outside the summer season?
Because autumn is a superb time to lace up your walking boots or hop on your bike again after the summer break, while the coast itself tends to feel much calmer. A few days by the Region of Valencia’s beaches can also pair neatly with a golf trip or a little wine tourism.
And you won’t have to stray far from the sea to find places steeped in history. The coast is dotted with monuments and archaeological sites such as Illeta dels Banyets in El Campello, and the spectacular Peñíscola Castle.
Which are the best Region of Valencia beaches to visit in autumn?
Autumn is a wonderful time to enjoy beaches right across the Region of Valencia, and none of them lose their appeal once summer is over. To help you choose, here are a few ideas from all three provinces.
The best beaches in Castellón, Valencia and Alicante in autumn
-
Castellón: if you like the idea of combining a walk with time by the sea, head to Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre, where Mundina Cove sits within Sierra de Irta Natural Park. You can also do the same around La Renegà beach in Oropesa del Mar. Another option is to follow a route to discover the Modernist villas of Benicasim before heading down to Voramar beach. Or make for Peñíscola, where Norte beach comes with views of the Templar castle rising above the town.
-
Valencia: in Cullera, you can visit its castle, have lunch while looking out to the sea and then spend some time on Brosquil beach. Or head to València, where you can try water sports, have a mooch around València Marina and stretch out on the swathes of golden sand found at Cabanyal beach.
-
Alicante: autumn is a fabulous excuse to seek out the coves of La Granadella and Portitxol in Jávea, or Moraig Cove in Benitachell. They are all easier to appreciate once the summer crowds have thinned out. And then there’s Benidorm, whose trademark effervescence carries on well into autumn, when its own microclimate and beaches such as Mal Pas make the coast especially tempting.
